Accident Scene Mapping

Vehicular, construction, and other accident scenes often present a bewildering array of patterning which, examined in context, can help elucidate causes and allow the reconstruction of events.Regardless of whether accidents are investigated and reports written by law enforcement professionals or plaintiffs’ experts, however, it is difficult to imagine what evidence might become important by the time a case is litigated. Photographic and video data are often also recorded during the course of investigations, however, and such imaged data can contain missing pieces of the puzzle that litigation becomes: the precise location of skid marks or potholes on the roadway, how far the tree branch was from the power line, if there was enough clearance at the ski lift exit, or whether (five years ago) the polo field was placed far enough from the clubhouse.

Aided by such techniques as digital image processing and photogrammetric mapping, Ebert & Associates extracts spatial and other information that allows the evaluation of such questions and the reconstruction of accident scenes of all sorts.
